6 SPEED GEARBOX
UPGRADE

Motivation

After the upgrade of the engine from 88 to 100cui, the only thing missing was a 6th gear especially for those longer rides on the motorway.
The speed limit in Switzerland is 120km/h and in 5th gear the motor revs about 3200 rpm.
To high for my liking
After the engine upgrade the bike has now enough torque and power and it was time to add a 6 speed gearbox.
It took quit some time on the internet to select how and with what to perform this update.
Finally I decided to go with the Ultima 6 Speed Upgrade Kit.
I have not found any major problems reported with this kit on the net and it came with the best price of all options. In addition, the gearbox housing can remain in the frame whilst performing the upgrade.

This is how it went......

Disassembly

In order to be able to remove the gear set in the original gearbox, the primary had to come of and the front sprocket as well. Having performed this tasks already once during the engine upgrade it was easy and without surprises.
